Mike Sciarra

Mike Sciarra

Councilman Mike Sciarra, was born and raised in Jersey City, but has been a proud Hawthorne resident for the last 27 years. He and his wife, Krissy have been married for 28 years and have three children – Nicole, Jared and Kylie.

For the past 22 years, Mike has owned and managed Jarole Sales, a wholesale distribution company that provides disposable materials and safety supplies to businesses.

Mike has always felt it's important to give back to the community.  In addition to coaching soccer rec league and special needs football, he is an original member of the Hawthorne SEPAC and an advocate for individuals with special needs, including the Autism community.

Sciarra began his career in public service when he was elected to the Hawthorne Board of Education in November 2014.  He served 5 years as a Trustee, serving as Vice President and eventually Board President.  Mike served on various ad hoc committees and was chairman of the Finance, and Building and Grounds Committees, as well as being an integral part of the Labor Negotiations Team.

The unexpected passing of legendary Ward 3 Councilman Garry Sinning in 2019 created a void on the council, which Sciarra was selected to fill. After serving a one-year interim term, he was overwhelmingly reelected by voters the following year to serve out the remainder of the term.

Currently, Mike serves as chairman of the Ordinance Committee and as a member of the Public Works and Public Safety Committees, He is also liaison for the Board of Education and Hispanic Heritage Committees.
